RedBull Crashed Ice for the Toronto Star

It was colder that -20 degree Celsius, but we strapped on our long underwear and stuck heading packs all over our body, before stepping out a shooting the RedBull Crashed Ice World Championships in Ottawa. The track was nestled between Parliament Hill and the Fairmont Chateau Laurier and wound it’s way along the Rideau Canal Locks towards the Ottawa River.

Daniel Alfredsson for Sweden!

Former Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson announced his retirement from the NHL yesterday. After playing for the Detroit Redwings for a year, Alfredsson signed a one-day contract with the Senators so he could retire in Ottawa. Some of my photos were used by Newspapers in Sweden. This was my first time shooting for the Swedish photo service Bildbyran.

It was also my first time shooting NHL hockey since 2012, after covering the team for six years.

Olympic Figure Skater Patrick Chan

Olympic Figure Skater Patrick Chan (12)

Canadian figure skater Patrick Chan took part in and placed first in mens senior program at the World Figure Skating Championships held in Ottawa securing his place on the Canadian Olympic team heading to Russia. I spent four days shooting both the action on ice and some behind the scenes. Despite the screaming fans (young and old) Chan seemed unfazed by the expectations placed on him by his Country who expect nothing less than a golf medal performance at the upcoming 2014 Olympic Games in Sochii.

Patrick Chan even took time after the competition to surprise Chan-fan Emilie Dagenais with a backstage tour. Dagenais, a young figure skater who is battling cancer for the fourth time, was very emotional during their time together.
