Gatineau Daycare Shooting

Recently there was a shooting at a daycare in Gatineau, Quebec. When I arrived on the scene I was concerned that I would see children who had been traumatized by the event. I was relieved to see that the kids were calm and some even laughing – I knew that whatever had happened did not happen in front of them. When I left the scene after all of the kids had been picked-up I went over to my son’s daycare to give him a hug and fill in his teachers. I could only imagine the dread and relief that the parents involved must have felt.

IIHF Women’s Hockey – Sweden v. The World

I have been shooting the IIHF Women’s hockey championships happening in Ottawa for Reuters for the last few days. My assignments, thus far, have been to cover the Sweden vs. Whoever games happening at the Nepean Sportsplex. Unfortunately they haven’t been doing so well, but here are a few frames that I like.

I shot my first game of basketball in two years tonight, in preparation for tomorrows Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) mens basketball championships in Ottawa. The Acadian Axemen were defeated by the Carleton Ravens.

Ottawa Senators v. Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and his team rolled into the capital to play the Ottawa Senators. The Penguins won the game in a shoot out. It just so happens that the best images I made last night were of Sid the Kid.
